Membership requirements

Membership to the Vitreo-Retinal Society of the Philippines is open to all ophthalmologists practicing in the Philippines or abroad, so as they fulfill the necessary requirements mandated by the governing board of the society.

Membership Requirements

1) Doctors of Medicine with an unrestricted license to practice Medicine in the Philippines

2) Must have completed an approved residency training program in the Philippines or abroad.

3) Must be certified by the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology or its equivalent (if trained abroad)

4) Must have finished a prescribed clinical fellowship of at least 1 year (pure clinical) or 2 years (combined clinical and research fellowship), pertaining to diseases, treatment and surgery of the retina and vitreous.

5) Must have a special interest in management and treatment of retina and vitreous diseases prior to the formation of formal retina fellowships in the Philippines.

Requirements for submission

1) Medical School Diploma

2) Medical License Certificate as issued by the Professional Regulations Commission

3) Certificate of completion of residency in Ophthalmology

4) Certification from the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology or its equivalent

5) Certification of completion of clinical fellowship in the diagnosis, treatment and surgery of diseases of the retina and vitreous.

6) Letter of recommendation from fellowship program director

7) Letters of recommendation from 3 active members of the society.

8) Presentation of a clinical paper pertaining to the subspecialty
